our fireplace has an unusual feature with a series of four tile steps off one side of the mantelpiece. At last I've finally found the perfect thing to put there... these wahine nesting dolls by Caroline Mitchell. I saw them hidden in the back of a display cabinet in a small, dinky antique shop in Botany and knew that they'd be just right for the steps. So here they are 'at home'
then there's these cute bird ornaments that I made for the kiwi christmas swap using fabric scraps, filling, vintage buttons and bells. They're looking so 'at home' on our tree that I'll probably have to make a couple more to replace the birds that refuse to leave home!

Your birds are neat. Did you use your own design or a pattern for them and where in Botany is the "dinky antique shop"?

I saw a baby mobile made up of similar birds in a 'creative' mag from Spotlight and used this as inspiration for making my birdie ornaments. The Botany shop is right next door to Plant Barn, Botany.
I LOVE those nesting dolls. Wish I could find similar here in the States.
